So, yesterday I went to the desk to check out the options and was told that there is a Walmart and Sam's club about 20 minutes down the road, just outside of Cabo San lucas and they have a large selection of gear. Ok - at least a place to start.

20 minutes and $30 cab fare later, there I was in Walmart where they had one small section with 3 absolute garbage rods and no plugs etc.

I found someone that spoke broken english and asked if there was a shop around with better stuff. Sure he said, ju see de cruse ship in the harbor? That's down town and just by the marina, there is a great shop. He said I could walk it in about 20 minutes.

Ok, not too bad I could work off some of the junk I've been gorging myself on. So about an hour and half later, I made it to the shop. The guy there was totally cool and hooked my up, once he was done laughing at me for walking from Walmart.

I jumped in a cab back to the hotel and into the pool bar to recover from the hike. Had a few margaritas and went up to the room to crash to get up early and hit the beach. About 4 am I awoke to what sounded like thunder?

I jumped out on the balcony to check it out. Turns out it was 30-40' waves crashing on the beach and into the pool. Excellent - no fishing today so back to bed. Got up around 10 and the waves have subsided a bit but the locals told me not to even think about it as just off the beach is about 200' deep, one mistake and your done.

Not sure if the attached video is too large to post. If so, I'll put it on youtube and post a link to it. This place is crazy - they tell me this comes up with no warning at all. You could be out on a rock and a 30 foot wave can appear out of nowhere and it's all over if you end up in the water.
