Zimmy it is common sense it can not be good for big fish, I bet driving hooks through their jaws and horsing them in against current isn't that great either. I bet laying a fish in the sand and having it flip around all over the place covered in sand, or trying to lay it on a rock in the surf while it gets smashed to hell isn't any better. I also know that if I am out on the rocks and I want to weigh fish I am certainly not going to sit there and try to measure a fish or mess around with a sling while I get pounded by waves and put myself in danger, call me selfish but if I was that concerned about killing fish I would be playing golf and not fishing.
