I've never had winds break a window. I guess my answer depends on how securely your neighbors store stuff like lawn furniture and garbage cans. It's not like we're going to get 140 mph winds.

Yes double the lines. Add a second spring line crossing the first. Make sure all lines wont rub (cover with tape, tubing.. whatever) lower antennae, biminis, and anything loose stow it. Add a fender or two if you need. Make sure the batteris are charged for hte bildge pump.

Got a feeling that tonight, all of the Friday evening traffic jams will be on the Cape side of the bridges, for once.

The exodus started already---at least 20 vehicles passed me on 25/195 this morning, loaded down to the gills.

considering sunday is going to suck without tv, interweb, power, etc... maybe wire up some plugs that have needed attention for the last 2 years.

I worry and prepare more for the Nor'Easters in the winter than I do for a hurricane. It doesn't phase me much. We have everything we need.

Charged the batteries, springer line from center cleat to back and a double line on the front. Taped the covers on the electronics.

That is all. Carry on!

One of the problems with today's weather forecasts is that weather has become very dramatic in this age of reality TV. The weather channel and all other weather people way over dramatize and exaggerate the weather every day. Then, when something really bad comes our way there are no new adjectives to separate this from yesterdays storm. They come up with some new "exclusive" ratings graph that shows "extreme" or catastrophic. If this is just another 50mph blow don't you think at some point they will loose credibility?

People are spending a lot of $$ to prepeare for this and if it turns out to be mild and not worth it, the next time they will not prepare like that and that would be when the "big one" hits...There needs to be some accountability on their behalf.

Started here too.... Refridge's freezer died overnight..... this will be fun. Bet I can't get a delivery today..... Where do you buy dry ice?

So much for fishing before the storm.

We had that happen a few weeks ago...pain in the ass. Lost the evaporator fan and it took a week to get parts.

Quite this morning...a few birds and insects but usually the animals are making all kind of racket.

At 6am I could have sworn we had a red sky.

I did take my awning down and have the deck furniture lashed. Trying to get the loose stuff in but there's a lot of it.

The weather channel really is an entertainment show. Some hot weather women though-

That being said- apparently modern forecasting is able to determine the track of a hurricane pretty accurately but they have not yet been able to forecast intensity. There was no major reason that intensity should have dropped before NC - but it did. So I give some of the real weather guys a pass.

Yeah ... makes sense, although I still have the broken leg to deal with ... so no moving until that is over ... but will start looking ... I got her to put the glass and stuff away, but she still left garbage cans, flower pots and two touring kayaks lying in the driveway ... I have to think that they are just mentally challenged or lazy ... but this is the same person who has not held a job since I first met her more nine or 10 years ago ... I guess that points to it ...

I would have no problems moving the stuff if I wasn't on crutches but hopefully it was cause some serious damage to her property and be a good .... "I TOLD YOU SO" scenario

Kayaks boogie'n down the street at 70mph would be fun to see! Just don't want to be at the spot where they "land". Probably in somebody's read car window. I would like to see a pic of the boat hanging out the window though. Who needs Thules!
