I cannot understand why you guys don't get generators. Even a 2000W will help you and that's a couple hundred bucks.
My buddy plugs his into the dryer plug and back feeds the whole house. I'm not saying that's the right way as I had mine wired into my main panel, but hell, if I was going to be out for a week I sure as hell would do it.
