Go to Youtube to the Video you want and you'll see the 3 circle Video Downloadhelper Icon

Click and download where you can find it.

i am not a big fan of VLC movie player, i use the codec packs from Major Geeks K-Lite is one of the most common on but if you just google the following " Major geeks & codec pack " you will see your os come up. This will allow you to use windows media player for everything.
