Thanks Vic,
Actually they are still at it again at Camp Perry Ohio, so she still has a shot.
Match Results
that is a link to their scores, I clicked on Sonya May and saw her scores live. They have some kind of electronic scoring.
I saw her last Kneeling set. Her club is leading right now.
Hopefully she will return to Camp Perry in Feb. for another go at the Olympic trials.

there are 3 of them from their team at the top 1,2 and 3
Sonya is behind second by a couple hundredths in the final.
She ranked second in the overall in Precision group, but after the final she dropped to 3rd
here is her last score in the final
too bad for the 8.3, she could have broke 100 like her 2 teammates
Their team set a new National record score! wow

Awesome job. Great performance at the national level. She should be very proud of herself and the team.

That's very cool!
Some people frown upon that air rifle but the target is much smaller and precision is much harder to achieve. We had Anschutz competition pellet rifles in HS ROTC which were as great as the targets were small.

She made the finals again Sunday and wound up 6th place junior precision rifle and qualified for the superfinal which is a last man standing competition where they all shoot one shot all at once while others are shouting, and trying to distract them. The lowest score drops out, and so that goes until it gets to one final shooter.
At the end the top 15 juniors and top 15 adults shoot off in the superfinal and this is part of the note my brother sent me
"Sonya and Mackenzie were in the super final. Sonya was the last jr left standing. She even beat some army marksmanship unit guys plus Olympic squad shooters. She finished in 8th place in the super final. She got a huge round of applause. Fantastic weekend for her."
pretty damn good if you ask me, that was her best performance to date.
needless to say we are proud of her and I hope she does that well in Feb.
thanks for your interest

John, Sonya did good today. I think she shot a 384 today and a 387 yesterday, that is out of 40 shots. Between this part at Camp Perry and the first half in Alabama back in Dec. , she wound up 9th in Juniors' womens' air rifle.
Her teammate Mackenzie placed 5th, that girl is phenomenal.I think she is 14 or 15. She could make it all the way next time around, who knows.
anyway, hopefully she has enough interest from college coaches to get her thru college on scholarships.
