guess you need both

seriously though, i'd try to get your hands on each to try them out. I only use my L for plugging early and late in the year, M for everthing else.

buying an L or a M due to fishing sand or rocks is not the reason to buy one over the other. buy the one that fits your lure range best and what you plan on throwing. if you plan on throwing a lot of eels and some sluggos too, but dont plan on throwing over 3oz, buy the 1201L. if you want to throw over 3oz often, handle larger fish more easily, get the 1201M. if you plan on fishing the canal, you'll need a rod w/ a serious backbone and that may mean sacrificing some low end casting range, but gain in fish stopping power. you have to decide what's more important.

Good points Dave. I spoke to you briefly about this after the last CSA meeting. Im leaning more and more towards the 1201L .
