Really, really dumb question

I always look at the wind forcast and my weekly fishing plan is based on where I believe the winds will be best , normally that means an onshore wind. I was looking at some charts today of the shoreline and trying to calculate goods spots for different winds and suddenly I was very confused,
Here's the dumb question

If the forecast is for SW winds, does that mean the wind is blowing in the direction SW or from the SW?????

If I threw sand in the air, would it blow SW?

Am I crazy, I'm not sure why this is confusing me....

Wind directions are given from which the wind blows. A SW wind comes from the SW but blows to the NE. A NE wind comes from the NE and goes to the SW.
