So the speedo reads from the engine, not the transducer?

Is there a water tube to the gauge?

there's a tiny little pin hole {like 1/64'th inch} in the leading edge of the lower unit under the cavitation plate. take a small drill bit and twist in in there, Bye hand. to clean out the hole.

Ahhh, so its a water pressure type.

Is there a tube running to the gauge, or does a sensor take over and send an electronic signal to the gauge?

I had the remote water pressure type, tore that out the second day I owned my boat. GPS is so much better and accurate.

tube all the way to the gauge. they don't last very long and aren't very accurate.

Ditto. Go with the GPS speed. I pay a lot more attention to my RPMs than the speed. I know I'm doing between 23 and 25 knots at 4200 RPMs.

No boat, back in the suds.
