X2 on the firepit. Looks like it was taken on my deck.....
Great shots. I find getting whale shots is one of the tougher things to do with the camera.

I should be back there in a week or so. It's on mudbugs deck in truro.
I have a call in.
It seems every time I put down the camera there would be a full breach close by. I'll get one sooner or later Tuna wishing.

Finally. after a long tug of war with the foul demon spawn pinniped.
This is how the blue came back, still wriggling . . . . creepy.

We were on my girlfriend's parent's deck in those pictures. Her brother got the firepit for them at Job Lot over a year ago. I've seen similar pits at Lowes, Homies and Walmart.

You're exactly right, that's the Joblot special.Great pit for the price but you couldn't pay me enough to have it on a wood deck.
I looked at all the pits at Lowes,Depot and Wallyworld and all are complete junk considering the prices they want for them.
If you truly want a durable pit I recommend these you won't regret it:

Or a truck rim.

I saw them install something like that on This Old house.
I really like a deck item, not something in the ground.
Look's nice JohnnyD.

Makai,
Great pix. I was struck by the shot of the
fire pit and company surrounding it. My
initial thought was "What a great man-cave".
Any time you want to show me your man-
cave I will gladly accept the invitation.
Didn't know you were such a good photog.

The deck is made of that composite material, or whatever you call it. I think they put stone under the pit with a fire blanket over them to act as a heat shield. We've had some real hot fires on there with no problems so far.
I hear you on the crap they have at the big stores - thin metal and absolute junk. Probably only a matter of time before the metal gives away on those junky ones.

Here is another firepit option - got one last year and it throws awesome heat:
Firepit
Due to the design, the logs fall in upon themselves and really get the coals going cherry red. Since they sit up higher and are "exposed" more than a traditional patio firepit, the heat it throws is incredible.
We have it on the corner of our deck, and I have (12) 12"x12"x2" brick pavers under it - never had a problem and we use it a lot.
A little more pricey than the WM, HD, Job Lot ones, but you get what you pay for - heavy duty, and "guaranteed for 10,000 fires"...

That looks sweet. but I can see ma sayin no way on that one. The price is reasonable. I'd love to have it.
