I have seen the enemy....

It IS US.

Togging Sunday in the bay. One boat w/about 6 guys ALL ANGLOS in it keep what appears to be sublegal Tog, and what looks to be well over the 10 fish/vessel limit.

When the pull up they motor over to see if i want any fish...

Second boat, some of out non-anglo friends. keeping DEFINITE shorts.

Anyone who believes RECS are not a BIG part of the problem with our inshore fisheries is sadly mistaken...

Did you call it in to DEM?

Not this time... I have called 5 times in the past from shore reporting people taking schoolies. Not once has DEM ever showed up. Do you REALLY think they are going to come out on the water? I know they are stretched thin, but c'mon... not one time out of 5 at a place easily accessable? I've all but given up on them doing anything meaningful.

The only shot you would have is if you knew which ramp they were taking out at. I highly doubt DEM would come out on the water. Ive been checked at a ramp 1 out of 100 times probably... never on the water.

I've actually seen more EPs this year than any other year that I can remember. Step in the right direction I suppose...

I've fished Rhody 5 times and have seen the EPO's twice this year. I've fished MA 4 times and have seen them null, as usual.

EPO"s have told me that even if you can get a car plate (I imagine a boat reg would do as well) they will put that info into a database and will keep an eye out for them for possible future infractions if they can't get there at the moment. They stressed that they need eyes out there as they are seriously understaffed. They are on the lookout big time for herring and glass eel poachers around the bay right now.

Hit the blues big time this evening. Some gator sized ones 33" and there were some nice sized bass in there as well - 25lbs or so feasting on those tentacled things. It's picking up, finally.

I have been asked if I had a license 2 times at canal already. Twice as many as last 7 years.
