And here's the difference between then and now when it comes to the internet and fishing; Cheaters and chest beaters were quietly shamed out of the picture instead of being made into heroes or the focus of attack....
We just did it (fishing). And didn't judge so much in public.... It was for enjoyment of both the activity and the people....

You are so right Ross. In 94 and 95 we hammered 20 to 30# fish by the hundreds at the 2nd Rip, Mission Bell, High Head and Peaked Hill Bar. No one except the guys who were there knew anything about it.
I was fishing with Lanny Grazini, Tony C, George Calzone, #^^^^&y Conyouer (sp), Steve Mills, and occasionally Luchini. No one other than them knew anything. Guys would ask us "where are the fish?"
We'd send them to Long Nook or Coast Guard beach.

I get mad at myself every time I read that forum as it has become nothing but the same 2 sides telling each other they are full of crap or racists. Ya I know "then, don't click on that forum Dummy" but when its the only thing to read, I cant help but read it. It's like when you were in the bathroom (Pre smart phone) and would read anything near the toilet, including the back of the shampoo bottle or toothpaste. Ok my rant is done... for a while this site was like Field and Stream was for me as a kid... it left me feeling entertained and educated about fishing and family. I miss that.... and to me.... that is sad.

Thanks, Mike and I feel ya. It used to be that way for me, burn and enjoy feeling like you’re on another planet.. catching was a bonus... it just costs a lot of money to go that now and I’d still like to go large in the places I used to find them.., with hardly anyone around. I guess times have changed... I need to adapt or ...
That’s cool about the blue crabs...

You mentions "too much effort for not much reward" If you are a Striper fisherman, that was what you did. Now, everyone goes to the Canal with their smartphones and waits for a post with a pole number so they can kill a 40 and, after they take a million selfies, they throw that noble fish in a god damn dumpster.

I hear you, Paul. I used to make the drive from Franklin 3-4 nights a week. I guess I just need to adapt. Thanks for sharing

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, input. Just frustrating the way things are going, but I’ll adapt.
And I apologize for all the singular quotes... been on this site for 15 years (that’s awesome) but still don’t know how to do singular quotes
Thanks all, tight lines

He is referring to the afterhours treadmill races at the hotel after a TFCTFN years ago.... Starfish, (missed here for some years) was a fan favorite, before Redlite and the Bombas got in the competition.... Not sure what FMS stands for though.
editors note; I was driving home when it all went down.

Hooters nights were fun, beer, wings, stories and nice tee shirts. Cook outs at Mikes shop always fun and good eats.

Yeah, posts aren’t what they were 10 years ago. I think there are 3 reasons
1. Facebook
2. The fishing has declined a bit.
3. The site and people are getting old. I mean, if you like at the start dates for the posters, most have been on the site for 15 years or more. Hey, we need some new posters!

Yes.... first Clinton held a stinky cigar to my head, then Obama's Muslim friends made me read it... and now Trump makes me read it because I'm scared the Mexicans are gonna get me.
Seriously though: this post was never meant to be negative or illicit rude comments. It was just a simple fisherman missing how it used to be, where most of the conversations were on fishing, friends, family fun, boats, kayaks, and fishing from rocks. We are fishermen and not politicians.... they tell lies for a living.. we tell them for a hobby.

Oh yeah the reason I was here .
Political forum FOOOOEYYYY . Never been there in all the years IT has been on the site . There are certain things that are not worth the argument over someone else's opinion that doesn't jive with your own . I very seldom talk religion or politics with humans and neither topic are even in the same realm . It is just me !
I deleted the rest
Nevermind

All valid suggestions. The sponsor point is well taken. Habs is still at the top of almost every page.
For what it's worth, I'm not sure John is into the site the way he once was. Lot of work with very little monetary return.

What I was doing for a while was putting this site (and fishing) in front of my family and the mortgage. Sorry - can't do.
If someone with a bit of tech and fishing prowess wanted to partner ; ) I would consider it.
