It isn't so much the actual "fishing" that I cherrish with Chirappo as it is the time spent talking and listening that I enjoy the most.

The same with everyone I fish with. To me it isn't about fishing. I fish with a great, great group of guys, most from this board, that what really gets me going is the sittin around shootin the bull tellin fishing lies resortin to "Plan B" when things are slow that do it for me. I don't care that some guy has caught this many fish or that many big fish years and years ago. Good for them. They need to take off their high school letter jacket. I am not a fan of celebrities and prefer to do my own thing than chase spots and reports. I have stood on beaches before slaying big fish every cast and had people walk up with their Walfart rod combos (the ones that come with mystery line on them), cast out, reel upside down, and catch BIG fish. Good for them too. Its a matter of gettin out there and doing it.

The thing that makes someone a skilled fisherman involves some technique as to where to be/ when, but the biggest factor next to luck is being able to be out there all the time. Fish have fins and move, so they could be at any spot at any time. Its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Person I'd like to fish the most with is by myself more even though I can't stand myself, cause then I don't have to worry about "spot burnin" and make people angry. And I'd always catch the most fish.

I enjoy company but to seriously fish, without having to worry about catching or if the guy with me knows what he's doing or not, I prefer to fish alone. I fish with Woolner in a way, I have his boat. In four years it will be forty years old and this past weekend over a hundred bass were landed in it. Several in the 20 pound class, one bigger and lots smaller. I think he would be happy that it is still a viable fish catching machine. On the sand I like being alone under the stars and sometimes just look around and take in the scenery. I am at peace there or drifting across the flats at B-Harbor or Monomoy. Of course you are never really alone, the spirits of those gone 'round the bend are still watching. Me and the ghosts of all those who went before, that's who I like to fish with.

Why even try.........
