Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery.

Charge the tool who doesn't know how to lock his effing guns up with aiding & abedding.
If you can't properly store your guns, you do NOT deserve them.

Its a very real issue.
How many accidents are there every year between kids playing with guns and other general accidents?
It shouldn't happen. Period.

likwid - the owner of the .45 that got stolen was stabbed to death by the perps in a previous home invasion. no way to tell from the article, but what if he DID lock it up and the 2 perps cracked open a safe?
i don't disagree with you at all on proper storage.

I could see leaving an 11 year old home if she shows enough maturity and knowing how to respond to an emergency situation. It seems to me she was very capable.

Can't believe how the focus switches to the parents leaving her alone . Like they were asking for it .I smell the old blame the victim ... Alot of kids are spending time at home alone with the norm being 2 parents working .

Not murder
Adamfishes, as opposed to the 11 year old being raped repeatedly or murdered like her neighbor I think she'll be able to live with the alternative. She did not commit murder. It was a legal homicide, but not murder.
