Looks like you can kiss eels good bye for at least part of the fall run.

Hey, DZ, maybe my reading comprehension is slipping but when is this supposed to be implemented?

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Nevermind, Hearings are Sept. and Oct. - not exactly a done deal on closure although admittedly it's a very necessary step

Shameless ploy to sell Surfhogs if you ask me

Seriously, I will be first in line to sign a petition provided they can show us accurate and unbiased data.
My layman's opinion is there are far too many juvenile eels taken, not only for human consumption, but for bait as well. I would be all in favor of gear that allows elvers under a certain size to pass through. In addition, there is a lot of good info available regarding the impact of dams on anadromous/catadromous species. I wouldn't worry this fall, but it will happen at some point.
When it does I'll shave my head, get religion and purchase a lathe. Masquerading as Numbskull will be a lot of fun.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

You'll have to get yellow teeth and bad eyesight as well.
