My Brothers....vintage mid-60's! I remember the oily smell from running them for hours on end!! Our basement was a myriad of slotcar and train setups on plywood on top of our old pool table and ping pong table! Those were great days!
Crafty there was this guy that lived across the street that was insane with model trains
i mean really wacky insane... he was like 7'4 inches tall and only weighed like 160 to 180 ...like a spider
and he'd cruise the railroad tracks just to see them...
he wore a train engineers hat most of the time....
he could take one step and you'd have to almost run to keep up...
he walked with one hand out palm up always for his pet white rat to sit on and he went everywhere
because when he walked ...you'd have to be on your bike..... to stay with him... or forget it...
he was quite harmless but his train set up occupied the whole basement and it was done in such detail that it should be in the Smithsonian museum...
