sounds like the boat is searching. bj you should have fished the harbor w/ me last year - all the big blues you could want in the harbor and pogs were pretty thick in the usual spots

my 1st wife didn't like me fishing so much

Bluefish Clarification

My original post should have stated that the bluefish have been late the past two years, compared to the preceding years.

The last six weeks of last season, beginning at the end of August, had poagies schooling everywhere, very easy pickings.

Large blues were easy to be had, my favorite retrieve was a poagie which had a large circular bite out of its midsection, shocked dead, with bulging eyes.

The two stripers pictured were caught behind a poagie school between Spectacle and LI last year, upcurrent was all large blues.

Stop by if you see me by Rainsford or in Quincy Bay, I've got an 18' blue skiff with white bumpers and a trap hauler, and normally a cooler of red shelled bartering tools for live poagies.

I believe I saw you sunday around noon or so Wessie ramp you were heading out, and I was the next boat to get to the out side of the ramp. I backed off so you could motor out in front of me.

That's my Sunday Normal

After I cook breakfast and do the dishes for the octogenerians, 87 and 86 respectively, I normally get launched after noon.

Saturday launch times depend on what happened Friday night, and the weather.

Last Saturday I launched late, planning to fish til dawn. I got a call to pick up fishermen at Wollaston an hour before sunset, amid crashing poagies, bunot was unable to snag any.

I gave up at 10:00 PM when the wind wouldn't let up, and with no moon and few shore lights to accent the water surface, navigation by the GPS was slow, the spooky black water told me it was time to call it quits.

I'll be out Saturday AM, Sunday PM (wind under 15) and probably Wednesday late afternoon.
