I have a SSU 120mh. It is a great rod and seems very tough. I abused it pretty hard for 2 years without any issues. I found I preferred it to the 1205 and the Kennedy Fisher 8740 I own, but not to the GSB1321M 11 foot blank I use now for the same purposes.

As Mike points out, there were breakage issues in the 120M (near the tip) and 132MH(near the butt)....apparently because of wall thickness variation (ie manufacturing fault). Reportedly that has been corrected and the blank strengthened. I have not heard of issues with the MH 10 foot model. Either way, Lami seems to have shot themselves in the foot with this series and their reputation taken a beating because of it.

Numby, you must be a fan of the SSU if you prefer it over the kennedy fisher. those were some sweet rods. thanks for your feedback...

I had my 120 1MH for 4 seasons, and just sold it to a buddy of TO's this past spring. It's a very strong rod. I didn't care for the NGC guide layout, though. It seemed to me to be very "reel-sensitive" in that it liked some spools better than others. I found that it threw a lot better with a big spool like an Emblem Pro 5500 than a Shimano 8000 spool.

The only one that I ever saw break caught a bush on the back-swing and snapped on the cast. That will happen with any rod. I felt that it was an honest 2-6 rod. Maybe someday I'll pick up a blank and have it built with a different guide lay-out. I really do like it as a Canal jigging blank. But, I still have an older All Star 1208 which I like even better than the SSU, and that will probably be the next one to have changed over to a better guide lay-out.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

You're talking about the GSB120 1M, right? People toss big shads with it so I would also say it's an honest 2-6 as well. I don't own one personally, but I've had my hands all over TO's and Cheferson's and it feels very similar to the SSU. wasn't there a rumor going around before that the SSU was built on the 120 1m blank?
