Anybody seen this???

Stonington - State Environmental Conservation Police Officers have arrested two men Tuesday in Stonington on violations of marine fisheries laws, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced today.
Arrested were David J. Hochman, 45, of Orange, and John J. Warnock, 65, of Pawtucket, R.I. They were found in possession of 12 striped bass, which is eight fish (four per man) over the daily limit of two per person.
The officers, acting on a complaint, arrested the two men as they were attempting to offload the fish to a vehicle on Boulder Avenue. They had begun their fishing trip at the state-owned Barn Island Boat Launch, also in Stonington. They are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Oct. 19.

Also has anybody seen the October RISSA newsletter? If u look under the RI dem arrests looks like they have been quite busy! I couldn't help but notice that there was a Rob Taylor arrested back in August for being well over his limit of SB? I recognize the name but is this the same Rob Taylor that used to fish the striper cup on team Striper?

Hochman is the S-B WR holder for spearfishing. Neeldess to say, the spearos aren't too happy right now about the negative press he is giving them.

From the names on that list of arrests, it looks like the RI DEM has been profiling.

theres more than a few spots that i park at were the scuppers are taking everything in site, 5 gallon white buckets filled with scup the size of your hand.

ive called DEM a few times, these people have no respect for the sport or the areas they fish, trash everywhere, line, cigarette butts, etc.

these are the people who are going to cause us to lose access to great fishing spots. nevermind the damage theyre doing to the future of the sport.

Are you saying that there are a lot of people from Brockton who may not understand the laws because they don't speak English so well?

That reminds me. I need to call your friend Arthur back today.

Is there any connection between the no-salt license citations and the beach/park/mgmt area citations?
Seems that they would go hand in hand, or at least influence each others' resulting citations, since most bucket-brigaders are known to drink and litter based on the complaints we hear on this site.

I hope it isnt the Rob Taylor from the striper cup. Its a pretty common name. I cant see anyone keeping over their limit of striper unless you are going hungry or profiting on them. Those are the two rationale i can see, not condoning by any means. I hope all that are caught receive more than a rosy welt mark on their wrists.

Everything is better on the rocks.

I assure you it is, lets not be nieve or ignorant here.....I believe Seadangles would of jumped on me within minutes of posting if it wasnt true, I hope that I am wrong, but my sources havent been wrong yet. I was shocked when I heard the news back in august and wouldnt of dared to post it until it was in black and white.. Besides, the average Bucket Brigade guy couldnt possibly catch what RT caught and come up with the genius scheme. This guy had Skillz! I mean the poundage, Undercutting dealers, any truth, were talking big $$$ not rock bottom prices... RISSA should fight to get "Their Law" enforced, yes? They fought hard to pass it... Did they backdate slips like they did with Burback, Big Alor was he special? The buds on here are quiet, not crying foul like with Big Al, burback, and team Striper member Sean... Maybe since they are cutting this guy so much slack they drop the charges on the others???

Slip, its a small world, the guy got busted poaching, plain and simple, I assure u it was more than four fish... Yes, unfortunately I get alot of Gossip, I know alot of people up and down the coast. I got alot of heat with the meyerson thing but if people knew what I know they wouldnt be defending him... Anyway, back on topic, why everybody protecting this surf god? Where those fish caught off the surf to begin with in the OTW Striper Cup inquiring minds want to know... Guys were questioning that back then, sometimes putting the pieces of a puzzle arent that hard....4, 8, 10, 18 bass was it? End of season? back date slips sold in mass and man, we are at a level well above big all and his secret compartments, this guy actually made big $$$

I read that as well. I do not know him personally nor do I know what happened regardless the legislation passed for a reason and I can not imagine a situation where there would be a grace period.

Whomever he is I sincerely hope he is punished to the fullest extent of the law. The dem botched the case on the dirtbag with the hydraulic table on his boat I hope they have learned to dot their I's and cross their T's

That is indeed 'the' Rob Taylor.

I wasn't there so I don't know the full story, but this is how it was explained to me:

According to RT himself he was bagged at the dock with four fish. He claims that he dropped off his bud earlier, but still had the fish when he was checked. That is all I know and won't pass judgement just yet. Now, If RT was actually caught with a whole mess of fish as implied above - well then that changes things.

How do I know this? I asked him.

Even if it was just four fish, which it wasnt, guys cried on this forum about billy Major for being over limit prior to midnight on a comm night, band from all tourneys, think that was 2 fish... Why is nobody crying about a pro poacher? Braggining to tackle shops about how he was catchin 6-700 lbs a day in chatham when it was in newport???? date the slips, go by the new anti poaching law, or do they protect their own??????

The Rob Taylor who was cited by the DEM paid a fine of $193.50. He actually paid $360 more when he was arrested for not controlling his vicious dogs.

Rob Taylor hasn't fished the Striper Cup for years.
I heard he was caught with hand in the jar.
He used to work for Quantum....Sponsor? Ken is dumb.
Believes everything he hears.
I hope I am there if he ever gets the courage to confront Myerson in person.
Which he won't,trust me.

And let DEM punish / fine him as needed. Maybe a little extra exposure of high profile people will make a few others to stop poaching.
