Later the Bartender asked "Where did you get that hook then?" The pirate responded "Well, me crew and I were in a battle and it got cut through the bone." The bartender then asked " Then where did ya get the eye patch from?" The pirate said, "In a harbor I looked at a gull flying over head and it took a dump right in me eye." You can probably get them whatever lenght you want. Fishpart 02-28-2002, 07:05 AM I also recall that gas stations used to insert carbide studs into tires with some sort of hand gun. Haven't found anyone who has one lying around though. JohnR 02-28-2002, 08:39 AM Goose - they're lifesavers! Simply the best invention for the rock hopper! Bloo - if you go into production, are you going to have a special "Krabbers" variant? Like this? http://striped-bass.com/images/bloo/krabbers1.gif bloocrab 02-28-2002, 08:44 AM ...FishPart, I have thought about something like that.... ...my concern was the size of the head of the screw. The closer I can keep the sole down the better. Check the diagram to see what I mean. If I went with the screw, I would think that the area where the screw was inserted wouldn't have as much of good seal as it would if I used the nail. (It wouldn't sit as good). I've thought about maybe 'boring' out the area on the sole where the screw would go, just so that it fit more snugly, but why ??...If I can probably just use a nail.... ...I know the screw would eventually make a home in the sole, but would it effect the application at the time, not allowing the sole to completely rest on the wader due to the size of the head? .....:smash: ...if you can understand that.... bloocrab 02-28-2002, 08:45 AM :D :laughs: :D ...LM-friggin-AO, John!!!..... ....that would be one dangerous crab!!!....;) Fishpart 02-28-2002, 08:45 AM Goose going back one more page I see you are looking for Korkers. JohnR 02-28-2002, 08:51 AM I'm glad you liked Bloo - Obviously made with you in mind.... Couple things to consider on your korker modification... Any nails or screws you use could potentially corrode on top, round, snap off or wear away the head of the nail or screw, and eventually go up from the sole, through the bottom of your shoe and into your foot. Some people have used larger headed bolts or screws to do the same thing as they'll be less susceptible to getting a second pointy end... Another thing to keep in mind, a good cobbler may be able to trim the sides and permanantly affix those to your wader boots if you wanted... bloocrab 02-28-2002, 09:06 AM John, the bottom of page 273 starts the story....;) bloocrab 02-28-2002, 09:09 AM ...by the way, what kind do you own??...the sandal, I imagine. ...do you have any "WAR" stories about sandals you'd like to share?.....Or have they never failed you?.... ....this is directed only to the person who plans on answering it!... :laughs: ;) bloocrab 02-28-2002, 09:15 AM The story on the Korker situation starts at the bottom of page 273 ...for those of you who are interested .... bloocrab 02-28-2002, 09:22 AM A family took their frail, elderly mother to a nursing home and left her, hoping she would be well cared for. She seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt sideways in her chair. Two attentive nurses immediately rushed up to catch her and straighten her up. Again she seemed okay, but after a while she slowly started to tilt over to her other side. The nurses rushed back and once more brought her back upright. This went on all morning. Later, the family arrived to see how the old woman was adjusting to her new home. "So Ma, how is it here? Are they treating you all right?" "It's pretty nice," she replied. A woman went to a pet shop and immediately spotted a large beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said $50.00. "Why so little," she asked the pet store owner. The owner looked at her and said, "Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a house of prostitution, and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar stuff." The woman thought about this, but decided she had to have the bird anyway. She took it home and hung the bird's cage up in her living room and waited for it to say something. The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said, "New house, new madam." The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then thought "that's not so bad." When her two tennage daughters returned from school the bird saw them and said, "New house, new madam, new girls." The girls and the woman were a bit offended but then began to laugh about the situation. Moments later, the woman's husband, Keith, came home from work. The bird looked at him and said, "Hi Keith." Fishpart 03-01-2002, 01:04 PM Confession . . . . A woman takes a lover during the day, while her husband is at work. Her 9 year old son comes home unexpectedly, so she puts him in the closet and shuts the door. Her husband also comes home, so she puts her lover in the closet, with the little boy. The little boy says, "Dark in here." The man says, "Yes, it is." Boy - "I have a baseball." Man - "That's nice." Boy - "Want to buy it." Man - "No, thanks." Boy - "My dad's outside." Man - "OK, how much?" Boy - "$175.00" In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the lover are in the closet together. Boy - "Dark in here." Man - "Yes, it is." Boy - "I have a baseball mitt." The lover remembering the last time asks the boy, "How much?" Boy - "$375.00" Man - "Fine." A few days later, the father says to the boy, "Grab your glove. Let's go outside and toss the baseball back and forth." The boy says, "I can't, I sold them." The father asks, "How much did you sell them for?" Boy - "$550.00" The father says, "That's terrible to overcharge your friends like that, that's way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess." They go to church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and he closes the door. The boy says, "Dark in here." The priest says, "Don't start that #^&#^&#^&#^& again." Teaching Math in 1960: A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit? Teaching Math in 1970: A logger exchanges a set "L" of lumber for a set "M" of money. The cardinality of set "M" is 100. Each element is worth one dollar. Make 100 dots representing the elements of the set "M." The set "C", the cost of production contains 20 fewer points than set "M." Represent the set "C" as a subset of set "M" and answer the following question: What is the cardinality of the set "P" of profits? For squidding, flip the jig and teaser away from the boat and let it drop to the bottom. Then engage the reel and quickly take up ten turns and then take five slow turns. If you get no hits than drop the jig back to the bottom and repeat the process until the jig is well under the boat. Then reel up and start over. For yo-yoing, cast the jig and tube uptide and let it sink to the bottom. Then engage the reel and bounce the jig off the bottom several times. You should get 2-3 bounces depending on the speed of the tide. When you can't feel the bottom, reel up a repeat the process ....:D bloocrab 03-03-2002, 02:10 AM There are times when jigging can be very effective, especially when there is a lot of bait present. Also, jigging is the preferred method to fish for cod in northern New England. To set up for jigging, take a four-foot piece of 50 LB mono and tie a 5-inch dropper loop about a foot from one end. Attach a 6/0 Gamakatsu or Owner Octopus hook to the dropper loop and then attach either a 9-inch purple jelly worm or 4-6 inch tube like a Gitzit. My favorite colors are the pearl glow, red and purple. Bring a supply of different colors to see what is working. Now attach an 8-16 ounce diamond or Norwegian jig to the end of your leader. Most jigs come with treble hooks which should be replaced with a single 8/0 Limerick tube hook. Make sure your hooks are razor sharp. ....I use a variation of different methods....when something starts working.....STICK WITH IT!....thats my motto!!;) ....if all else fails.......PUT ON SOME CLAM!!! :D bassmaster 03-03-2002, 08:20 AM Hi..... Striper1 03-03-2002, 09:53 AM BM, what did the BIG shark take BIG chunk or live bait? nice fog bass. I fish in the fog all the time:laughs: The bass love the fog:D Canalratt1 03-03-2002, 09:57 AM Hey Bloo another way to jig is what we call dragging. Same basic setup as you. Use the lightest jig you can get away with, on anchor up to 17 ozs. but we drift mostly and and use jigs to 35 ozs. Cast uptide and engage reel when it hits the bottom. I like to rest the jig on the bootom wiggle a few times and then jerk-up hard. when you don't feel the bottom just let out more line till it hits again and start over I'll do this four or five times then reel in. If the hard jerking doesn't work then I'll just drag it just bouncing the tip. I use any of my old plastics but two teasers that seem to work best are bucktails tied on a 5/0 mustad or a pink/white grub.If all fails or you want more haddock go to bait!
